Building the evidence-base to reduce electronic health record-related clinician burden.
This paper looks at the evidence-base to reduce electronic health record-related (EHR-related) clinician burden. Evidence-based informatics approaches, pragmatic next steps, and future research directions are presented to improve three of the highest contributors to EHR burden: documentation, chart review, and inbox tasks. Perspectives are also offered on how EHR vendors, healthcare system leaders, and policymakers can play an integral role to make EHR easier to use.

Does adoption of an evidence-based practice lead to job turnover? Results from a randomized trial.
It is important to understand the impact of implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) on the workforce. EBP implementation can increase job demands, stress, and burnout, and may thereby exacerbate turnover. This study examined the effects of implementation of an EBP on turnover among staff at nine child welfare agencies. A total of 102 providers were randomized to either adopt an EBP, SafeCare ((c)) , or continue providing services as usual.

Surgeon burnout: a systematic review.
The authors sought to provide a concise review and identify studies reporting on identification, prevention, or intervention for surgeons suffering from burnout. They concluded that systematic evaluation of the structure, effectiveness, and resources required for existing programs needs to be done to better understand what does and does not work, with feedback from participants providing significant information.
